Top Ten Books I’ll Probably Never Read

bbd1d-toptentuesday2

This is a weekly meme by The Broke and The Bookish wherein they post a Top Ten List for bloggers to answer. For this tuesday, it’s about the books that you’d probably never read. This may result in opposing views that could lead into unwanted violent reactions so I suggest you keep a cup of ice cream beside you or a bar of chocolate. Just for safety purposes you know. Also, please don’t get mad at me 😀 So without further ado, here is my list:

1. The House of Night Series by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast

Okay I started reading this book  when I was around 14 years old maybe and as far as I can remember I think I liked Marked and Betrayed but then I don’t know, I just lost interest in it. And I doubt I’ll ever be interested again I mean I think I’ve outgrown it.

2. ALL OF NICHOLAS SPARKS’ BOOKS

I’ve been saying this a couple times now, I’m not a huge fan of romance novels and I am certain that I wouldn’t get as far as 20 pages from any of Nicholas Sparks’ novels. And I mean c’mon all of his endings. Urgh! Yeah, I may have watched a couple of movies based on his books but nah! What I feel about the books equates what I feel about the movies.

3. Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover

17340050

Believe it or not I managed to read and finish Hopeless in just one sitting. I mean I  couldn’t believe it but yeah I did. I’m not really sure if I liked Hopeless or not so I gave it a 3 out of 5 stars and I decided to leave it at that. So yeah, I’m not interested in picking this book and read all about Holder’s perspective.

4. The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion

21844019

This is a sequel to the novel The Rosie Project which I actually did a brief review. Check it out here if you’re interested 🙂 So anyway I liked The Rosie Project but not that much. In my opinion, it doesn’t need a sequel but I don’t know maybe someday I change my mind and pick up this book. But for now, it doesn’t appeal to me in any way.

5. Love Letters To The Dead by Ava Dellaria

18140047

I actually tried to read this book earlier this year because that cover looks appealing and the title itself was intriguing. But then, after a few pages I got bored and a little annoyed maybe with the protagonist. It’s an epistolary novel like The Perks of Being a Wallflower and so I couldn’t help but feel like it wants to follow the same path but it just couldn’t.  Sorry but this isn’t the book for me. Maybe its because I couldn’t find a connection with the character or I don’t know really.

6. Uglies Series by Scott Westerfeld

The moment I heard about this series I told myself not to judge it. Okay, I may have judged it already but I couldn’t help it. The premise seemed ridiculous to me that I’m not entirely convinced its the book for me. Again, maybe I’ll change my mind about it but definitely not happening in the near future.

7. Casual Vacany by J.k. Rowling

13497818

Let me get this straight! J.K. Rowling will always and forever be one of my favorite authors and this book can’t change that. But to be honet book did not appeal to me really. I may have tried reading it but I didn’t get past the 10th page maybe. It’s just not the book for me that’s all.

8. Nobody Is Ever Missing by Catherine Lacey

18490560

I thought I’d like this book. So I started perusing the first few pages and actually psyched myself to just get past the hundredth page because maybe I’ll see why I thought I’d like it. But unfortunately that didn’t happen. After a couple of pages I just got bored and that was the end of my “thoughts”.

9. The Lover’s Dictionary by David Levithan

9279177

That is a stunning book cover actually and the premise of this book made me curious enough to pick it up. But then after a few pages I really don’t get it so yes this book isn’t for me.

10. Summer Trilogy by Jenny Han

I’m not really sure if the trilogy is called “Summer”. Anyway, before you guys react (because I know a lot of people and that includes my friends love this book) I tried reading this series. I love Jenny Han, I adore To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and I’m anticipating the sequel P.S. I Still Love You, but this trilogy didn’t appeal to me that much. I started reading the first book since my friend told me that after the first book the story becomes amazing. I tried but every time I do, Belly doesn’t fail to annoy me so I took a pause and its been quite a while now. I don’t know maybe someday, I’ll just pick it up but for now my mind says that I’ll probably never get to read it.

Okay, so those are the books that didn’t quite appeal to me. This is just a probability but who knows, maybe I’ll be in the mood for one of them someday. I hope one of your favorites isn’t on this list but if it is PEACE OUT! 😀

What are the books on your list? I’d like to know so drop a link down below. And if you’ve read one of the books I’ve mentioned, I’d like to hear what you think about them. Maybe that could get me interested and start reading it. 😀

Have a great day ahead and God bless you!

  1. I totally agree with you about The Summer I Turned Pretty! I forced myself to finish the books and I did (barely). I honestly do not understand what all the hype is about – at all. Similarly, I started reading The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson and I just couldn’t. I couldn’t even get a quarter of the way through. I HATED it!! I have absolutely no clue as to what about the book is appealing – there was nothing that I liked. Nothing.

  2. I have serious commitment issues when it comes to book series, so I know I’ll never read the Uglies series or The House of Night Series.

I’m trying my best to get through Casual Vacany, but it’s just a book which has a slow plot, I guess. I do enjoy the characters in the book, they all seem very “alive” and “real”. If that makes any sense.

  3. Haha! I’m with you in not liking [not hate though] Nicholas Sparks novel. I mean, you can already predict how it would end even while you’re still on the synopsis!! To be honest, it’s already a cliche sometimes.

  4. I loved so much The House of Night series when I first read it. I was in my “everything is good that has vampires in it” period at that time and this series just qualified haha. I think I read more than half of the books but then they stopped translating them to Hungarian, I was around 14 then, and now that I read in English I’m not interested. I’ve read The Last Song by Sparks a few years and loved it. Why I don’t know. Maybe I changed a lot but now I can’t even watch a Sparks movie trailer without feeling like all the cheesiness is killing me. The Summer trilogy is yet another series that I don’t think I’ll ever read. I just feel like the drama meter is really high in that one.

  5. Mills & Boon!! Would never ever read them again…..can’t get past 20 pages. And totally agree Casual Vacancy can never undermine the legacy of Jk Rowling. She’s the Queen of the world she created. 🙂 Loved the blog 🙂

  6. ERGH. I am so with you on the House of Night series. 0-0 I read the prequel and they. were. terrible. I will never touch the books, not ever. Which I don’t really like saying…but for this one? YEP. I didn’t hate Uglies, but I didn’t love it either and while I can’t ever see myself finishing that series…I won’t say NEVER. xD Just mostly likely no. hehe.
DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH LOVE LETTERS TO THE DEAD. It is exactly like Perks. To the point, the plot twist is the same as in Perks. *stomps around angrily* I felt it was a giant rip-off.

  7. Nicholas Sparks totally made my list too! (For which I got an earful from a super-fan sister-in-law who gave me the what/what about why he is not a “romance writer” but a “love writer.” I see her distinction, but it makes no difference in terms of whether I want to pick one of these up. We are close, but this is one thing we just don’t agree on! 🙂 )

  8. Totally with you on Nicholas Sparks! My gosh, he has a lot of books and I have zero interest in them. I read “A Casual Vacancy” and I enjoyed it. But it is a very character driven story and different than the HP for sure. I’ve been enjoying her mystery books written as Robert Galbraith.

  9. I’M STRUGGLING WITH THE UGLIES SERIES!! I have all of the four books and I JUST CANT READ THEM!! I tried reading them, but after fifty pages I gave up. Who knows, I might read them in the future, but right now, I just can’t find the will to read those books. And the worst part? I got them as a gift from a friend on my birthday. AARGHH!!

    • OH MY! does ur friend know that u didn’t like it? haha the premise really seemed ridiculous (there i said it) Reading the synopsis alone from the first book made me wary about it. but i agree, yes maybe we’ll be in the mood for it someday! 😀

      • No she doesn’t and I feel SO guilty whenever I see those books on my shelf. But HOPEFULLY i’ll read them someday. HOPEFULLY.
Even though Im not sure of that fact though. But who knows? You might surprise yourself and read it. Trust me, in the beginning I didn’t want to read The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman and finally I was like I HAVE TO DO IT AND I WILL because it was just sitting on the shelf forever and collecting dust. And even though it’s embarrassing to say that I FINALLY finished the book after reading it for THREE years (how can anyone read one book for three years?!), I felt triumphant. If that happens with the Uglies series, I guess I’m going to feel the same thing but after like twelve years. 😛 🙂

  10. The Summer I Turned Pretty was an okay read. Belly (along with her name) annoyed me. I’ve also read a few of Nicholas Sparks novels and own them as well. Though I feel like I’ve reached a point where I’d just rather watch film adaptations of his books.

  11. I tried to read the House of Night series but I couldn’t get into it, I don’t know if maybe it was because I was reading them in Spanish but I just couldn’t get into them. I’ve seen the Uglies on a lot of list I’ve stopped by. I haven’t read any of Colleen Hoover books but I hear you either love her or you hate her. I agree with the Casual Vacancy. I own it because it is J.K. Rowling but I’ll probably never read it.

    • ooh so i believe i belong to “hate her” but i don’t really hate her that much, its just that it was kinda intense maybe or its because its romance haha. thanks for sharing your post 🙂

  12. I actually agree with a lot of these. I read a couple of HoN as a preteen but I don’t think I’ll be continuing. Despite this fact I’ve been buying these on sale to complete my collection. The book buying problem is real. And I didn’t really care for Belly in The Summer I Turned Pretty either, I do plan to try To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before though.

  13. Ugh, don’t get me started on Nicholas Sparks! He’s an atrocious writer, right up there with Danielle Steele. And, they’re gazillionaires lol.
The first couple of books in the House of Night series weren’t too bad. Not great, but not terrible, either. It went downhill from there. Also, the first book in the Uglies series was actually pretty good. I can see why people would be opposed to reading it, though.
Looks like you’ve got a good list there. I’ll have to scrounge around, think deeply, and come up with a list of my own. Have a wonderful day!

    • i agree, i was kind of interested with the first books of house of night but then it was lost haha. I don’t know if something changes and i grab one of this books someday haha. i’m not really saying no to it entirely.
