Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant Parks keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don’t like her. She jokes that she won’t bite, but they don’t laugh.
Are you a fan of The Walking Dead series? ^.^ Do you love to watch movies about a post-apocalyptic zombified world? Do you just dive in on anything that has a zombie-esque theme?
YES? then maybe this book is exactly what you need, with the TWD series having only 1 episode left for season 5 this might help.
This could also satisfy your hunger for anything involving these walkers or biters or deados or whatever it is you call them. Also, another thing, this might have a TWD vibe (just a little maybe) but trust me the whole premise is actually different.
but for those who is not really into zombies & the gory details of their pursuit of happiness then maybe this ain’t the book for you cherie. OR you could try…… so allow me to tell you why:
1.) it is a stand-alone novel (YAY!)
2.) it is sci-fi and post-apocalyptic (obviously, sorry!) 😀
3.) the protagonist is a kid! (that actually got me thinking)
4.) im saying this again! the story-line is entirely different and nope its got no cheesy romance!
5.) YOU WANT SOME ADRENALINE? then pick this book!
What did it for me?
well, aside from that synopsis and the whole kid thing, the scientific explanation of the disease was quite interesting. You see, the fungus is actually real, affecting a different species though but its REAL! so the possibility of humans getting affected is thinkable, slim chance but who knows.
I think its safe to say that this premise is quite unique. With the characters, as expected, they’re a bunch of different specimens. The story was told in their varying point of views and so you see where these characters are coming from. I guarantee you that you’ll feel all sorts of emotions towards them–pity, admiration and annoyance! all at its finest!
Then we have the ending! I did not see that one coming.
I mean, as I was reading it, the experience was exhilarating and adrenaline-pumping but the end was relatively O-KAAY. It was a bit odd or absurd and unrealistic. It wasn’t just satisfying for me, I was disappointed but it will do I guess. After all as they say– it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey. I don’t know with you, so it’d be best if you read it too so we can talk or if you’ve read it you can tell me what your thoughts are. Just comment it down below! 😀
I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars on Goodreads.
